Abu DhabiAbu Dhabi is the UAE's capital and largest emirate, covering around 84% of the country's land. It is the political and cultural heart of the nation — home to the vast Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat's cultural island, the historic Qasr Al Hosn and Qasr Al Watan, and the theme parks and Formula 1 circuit of Yas Island. Inland lies the green oasis city of Al Ain, with its palm groves, forts and UNESCO-listed archaeological sites. Abu Dhabi tends to be calmer and often cheaper than Dubai, with just as much to see.

Abu Dhabi follows UAE-wide entry rules — visa-free, visa on arrival, or a pre-approved e-visa by nationality. Confirm your current allowance at u.ae before travelling.
Abu Dhabi is extremely safe. As the capital it is relatively conservative — dress modestly, particularly at the Grand Mosque (where robes are provided), and follow the usual UAE rules on alcohol and public behaviour.
Buses and taxis are cheap and reliable; use the Hafilat card for buses. Careem and Uber operate throughout. To reach Yas Island, Saadiyat or Al Ain comfortably, a car or booked driver is easiest.
The dirham is dollar-pegged. Cards are accepted widely; carry some cash for markets and smaller venues. ATMs are everywhere.
